Nolan Arenado won’t know for at least a month whether or not he won the National League MVP, but for the first time in a long time Rockies fans have something to possibly be excited about in November.
Arenado will most certainly receive some hardware one the Fall Classic has crowned a 2015 champion – he’ll earn his third consecutive Gold Glove award – but his MVP candidacy is somewhat up in the air.
Arenado had big numbers as far as home runs, RBI and doubles, but his batting average and on-base percentage were likely too low to secure him anything better than a top-five finish in MVP voting this year.
Still, Danny Williams of Morning Mayhem on Mile High Sports AM 1340 says Arenado is fast on his way to becoming one of the biggest stars in baseball and could turn into the bona fide superstar that the Rockies had always hoped Troy Tulowitzki would become.
In fairness, Tulo is certainly a star. But his megastar potential has been continually derailed by injury. That’s a fate Williams hopes Arenado can avoid.
