Nolan Arenado proved his prowess once again.

Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that the 28-year-old third baseman has been named the National League player of the week for the week of May 20-26. This is the sixth time Arenado has been dubbed Player of the Week in his career, tying him with Dante Bichette and Todd Helton for the most in franchise history.

The Rockies’ slugger has played stellar baseball the past week, hitting .538 (14-for-26) with two doubles, four home runs, nine RBI’s and seven runs scored. Arenado recorded multi-hit games in all six games played during the week and finished with home runs in three consecutive games.

Arenado has 24 multi-hit games this season which is the most in the National League, and his nine three-hit games are the most in the sport.

He is currently riding a seven-game multi-hit streak, the fourth multi-hit streak of seven or more games in club history. With one more, he will tie Andres Galarraga for the overall record in Rockies’ history.

The four-time Silver Slugger Award winner has been on an offensive tirade throughout the entire month of May, hitting .419 with 20 runs, seven doubles, nine home runs and 25 RBI’s. Arenado has also posted a .455 on-base percentage and slugged .806.

Arenado leads the National League in batting average and is tied for first in hits while ranking second in OBP, runs driven in and slugging.

Overall, Arenado has been one of the best players in the league this season, ranking second in hits (71), third in total bases (134), tied for third with 31 extra-base hits and fourth in batting average with a mark of .336.

Additionally, Arenado has done a phenomenal job of limiting strikeouts, averaging 9.58 plate appearances per strikeout, the second-best rate in the NL.

Arenado has lived up to the hype of the monstrous eight-year, $260-million contract he signed during Spring Training and is on a path to make his fifth All-Star appearance.
