A league source has confirmed to Mile High Sports that the Denver Nuggets and journeyman point guard Donald Sloan have agreed on a training camp deal. Without clarity on if Isaiah Thomas will be ready for training camp, it makes sense for Denver to bring in a veteran point guard to fill out the training camp roster. Sloan is a big-bodied point guard who stands six-foot-three and weighs in at 203 pounds. He graduated from Texas A&M back in 2010 and played all four years for the Aggies. By the end of his collegiate career, Sloan averaged 11 points, 2.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds for Texas A&M. He finished his senior year on a very high note as he averaged 17.8 points, 2.3 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 36.4 percent from three-point distance.
After going undrafted in the 2011 NBA Draft, Sloan went on to amass 218 total games played at the NBA level between five different teams; the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and the Brooklyn Nets. He also spent time in the G-League for the Reno Bighorns, Erie BayHawks, Sioux Falls SkyForce, and the Texas Legends. Sloan also spent time playing overseas in Philippine Basketball Association and three separate stints with the Guangdong Southern Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association.
Most recently, Sloan played for the Texas Legends in the G-League and put up 18.8 points 4.1 rebounds, and six assists per game while shooting 36.8 percent from three-point distance over 24 games.
Sloan is now the third player signed to a training camp deal by the Nuggets joining Summer League standout Emanuel Terry and former University of Colorado guard Xavier Silas. The Nuggets training camp roster is now full at 20 players and, without a corresponding move, this will be the group that the Nuggets will bring to San Diego for training camp and throughout the preseason.
