With the new cap space the Nuggets have since the departure of Ty Lawson, the team is expected to make a few deals this week. Chris Dempsey of the Denver Post reports that the Nuggets will be extending Danilo Gallinari’s contract and signing free agent Darrell Arthur for another year.

After overcoming injuries the first part of the 2014-2015 season, Gallo had a sort-of renaissance in his play. (Dare we way an Italian renaissance?) Before the All-Star break, Gallo averaged 12.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. But after the All-Star break his numbers increased significantly. They jumped to 18.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He shot 44.3 percent from the field and 40.4 percent from 3-point range after the break.

Meanwhile, Arthur has become one of the Nuggets’ best defenders in his two seasons in the Mile High City. Additionally, he averaged 6.6 points and 2.9 rebounds per game last season coming off of the bench.
