Some guys simply love the game of football. Phillip Lindsay is that kind of man.
Speaking to Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, Lindsay said he’s excited to play the game that he loves. Especially for his hometown Denver Broncos.
“I love playing football,” Lindsay explained. “Every chance I get, I just want to take advantage of it. I want to be a spark player, I want to make an impact, and make big plays. Im excited and I’ll be ready whenever my number is called.”
Broncos fans, knowing their team needs a consistent running back, are in full-support of Lindsay making the team. He, simply, wants to make the fans proud.
“I definitely feel like Colorado’s behind me. I’m just going to make them proud,” Lindsay continued. “I want to make my family proud. I want to make my state proud.”
For undrafted rookies, being able to play special teams is critical in making the team, and Lindsay gets the importance of doing just that.
“My main focus is on special teams,” Lindsay said. “Gunner, punt returner, kick returner, blocking punts, and just anything. Anything that I can do to help contribute to the Denver Broncos so that we can win the Super Bowl.”
He knows a job won’t be given to him, especially when the Broncos drafted two other running backs ahead of picking up the former CU star post-draft. But, he’s ready to fight and win a position, too.
“I’m out here trying to fight for a job. That’s my main focus,” Lindsay explained. “It’s about competing and making the running back room better, and making myself better. Competing so that I can get on that field.”
On a side note, Lindsay will do anything he can to avoid his afro being shaved by the veteran players.
“I’m gonna be hiding,” Lindsay said. “I’m gonna hide behind all the big o-lineman. Everything that I can see I’m going to be hiding behind.”
