Last night in the Denver Nuggets win over the Orlando Magic, Nikola Jokic set another assists record, becoming the all-time leader in assists at the center position (5,667) by passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5,660).
Jokic did so relatively early in his 11th season in the NBA. How much longer Jokic plays for in his NBA career is a mystery, but if it’s anywhere close to Kareem, then Jokic might end up doubling Kareem’s assist totals. That would place Jokic into the pantheon of all-time great passers, regardless of position.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn reacts to the Denver Nuggets win over the Orlando Magic on Thursday night in which Nikola Jokic passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time assists leaderboard. Ryan discusses Jokic’s possible peak assist totals, Jamal Murray continuing to cook, and more from the Nuggets win last night.
