The Denver Nuggets’ early impressions have been underwhelming to say the least, but now the schedule steers the Nuggets home for six home games in a row at Pepsi Center.
Matt Moore of CBS Sports joined Sean Walsh and T.J. McBride on Mile High Sports Radio to discuss the Nuggets’ start to the 2017-2018 campaign and the most recent road trip, which didn’t end as they hoped.
“I think it’s overall disappointing, because they clearly just didn’t take that Knicks game as seriously as they needed to,” said Moore. “Their effort level was low, their attention level was low. Obviously, the coaching staff was livid about that after the game. They cost themselves a real opportunity there.”
However, second-year guard Jamal Murray stood out despite the team’s rocky start and has been coming on strong for the Nuggets. “It’s huge. They need Murray scoring,” Moore said. “They need him aggressive. They need him shooting. They need him looking for his own shot. That’s going to have to be a big part of the offense going forward. If he’s putting pressure on defenses with what he’s capable of doing offensively, that’s going to open up more opportunities (for others.)”
Conditioning was a critical emphasis for the Nuggets star-in-the-making Nikola Jokic. Moore touched on that and many other topics in his radio appearance with Walsh and McBride. Certainly. if the Nuggets are to recover from their slow start, six straight at home provides an opportunity for a jump-start.
