We’ve been talking about the hypothetical for months, but to see it actually happen is still shocking. Brock Osweiler, the supposed heir apparent to Peyton Manning, has bolted Denver for the Houston Texans.
And while John Elway made a late push to keep Osweiler in Denver, he simply wasn’t willing to pay a quarterback with seven career starts top-10 quarterback money.
New Texans QB Brock Osweiler's final offer from Denver was worth in excess of $16 million per with $30 million in guarantees.

In due time, we’ll see if Elway was right, but at this moment, it’s all about instant, immediate, uncensored reactions. Safe to say, there were a lot of them.
Here are some of the best:
One issue for Brock Osweiler: This wasn't an easy season for him with the #Broncos. Difficult to deal with being benched for a SB winner.

#Broncos reached $16 million per year on Brock.. But weren't going to overpay.. Next move? Will likely look into Colin Kaepernick

Plan Bs exist in Denver after all.

With Brock Osweiler off to Houston, RGIII is on Broncos' list of replacement quarterbacks, per source. Could be visiting Denver.

In fact, pay attention to his tone during this post-SB interview. https://t.co/dydGmnpMlq

Damn. I didn't think Brock would leave that defense

Brock Osweiler just did the Denver Broncos with no Vaseline if the Texans rumor is true #ShowMeTheMoney

My reaction to Brock Osweiler going to #Texans pic.twitter.com/q8Mj1ZHPYR
— Robert Flores (@RoFlo) March 9, 2016
I'm told Osweiler was "very distant" during negotiations. showed Broncos he didn't want to come back. Elway refused to play top 10 QB money.

Seeing lots of celebrating the Texans adding Brock Osweiler/Lamar Miller. I don't know if that duo is about to attack the record book.

Brock got 72Ms 😳😳😳😳😳 JESUS WHAAAAATTTTTTTTT!? #speechless
— Steven Johnson Jr. (@SMJ2852) March 9, 2016
I know @Broncos just won the Super a Bowl but a mini bomb just went off on the roster losing Brock Ehhh idk I could be wrong though.

Tenor of talks between Broncos and Brock Osweiler soured of late. Maybe it was posturing by the player. But Denver definitely took note.
— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) March 9, 2016
In his retirement speech Peyton Manning said 18 is a good #. Who knew he was talking about Brock's new salary?
— trey wingo (@wingoz) March 9, 2016
Tough to follow a legend. Tougher to follow a legend and walk away from that kind of money. https://t.co/29La1klmNc

Uhh ohhh 😉lol
— Danny Trevathan (@Grindin_59) March 9, 2016
That is true Brock hasn't proved himself! That's why I'm in shock he got 72M's that's Peyton Money hahaha
— Steven Johnson Jr. (@SMJ2852) March 9, 2016
Wait, 18-mil?? Holy Steve DeBerg, that's a big investment for a guy whose only played 7 games. Broncos wanted no part of that bidding war.
— Vic Lombardi (@VicLombardi) March 9, 2016
So Brock was pissed he got benched. C'mon.
— Dan Hanzus (@DanHanzus) March 9, 2016
If I’m Elway, I try to trade a 2 and a 4 to Cincinnati for A.J. McCarron.
— Peter King (@peter_king) March 9, 2016
In what league, era or level of football has Osweiler ever "proven" himself? Denver wins another Super Bowl before H-Town…mark it down.
— Robin Carlin (@robincarlin) March 9, 2016
Broncos source: "This is not a surprise. It was clear to John (Elway) last week that (Osweiler) didn’t want to be here."
— Jeff Darlington (@JeffDarlington) March 9, 2016
Shocked I thought Brock wanted to play with us lol
— Chris Harris (@ChrisHarrisJr) March 9, 2016
Seven games in four years, from a second-round pick. Sorry, that's a bust. #Broncos #Brock

Elway wouldn’t give a Bradford $ to a guy with 7 starts. https://t.co/L7JPr9zv6U

Denver don't be mad it's not about winning free agency it's about winning championships.
