The Colorado Rapids announced on Tuesday that the soccer club has acquired striker Kei Kamara from F.C. Cincinnati in exchange for a 2019 international roster spot. Kamara is the second addition to the Rapids’ attacking front since the conclusion of the 2018 campaign.
“Kei Kamara is a natural goal scorer who has consistently ranked among the top finishers in MLS,” said Rapids Executive Vice President & General Manager, Pádraig Smith.
“His goal scoring capabilities will bring a much needed cutting edge to our attack. We are delighted to bring Kei to the club and look forward to seeing him on the field in the burgundy and blue in 2019.”
Originally drafted ninth overall by the Columbus Crew in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft, the 34-year old striker is currently Major League Soccer’s sixth all-time leading scorer with 135 goals and 41 assists 390 career appearances.
In his career, Kamara has played for Columbus, Houston, Kansas City, San Jose and most recently Vancouver. Additionally, the striker has also played in the English Premier League with Norwich City and Middlesbrough. Playing for Vancouver last season, Kamara tallied 17 goals and six assists.
