After remaining docile for much of the time leading up to the transfer deadline, the Colorado Rapids finally brought in another attacker to help Kevin Doyle up top.
The Rapids picked up Philadelphia Union attacker Sébastien Le Toux on the last day of the transfer window, bolstering their depth in the attacking game with the MLS veteran.
“Sébastien’s track record in MLS speaks for itself,” said Paul Bravo, Technical Director and VP of Soccer Operations. “He is a proven goalscorer and creator. We look forward to welcoming him to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.”
The Rapids have primarily played Doyle at forward this season, as the Irish national team member has appeared in 17 of Colorado’s 21 games, starting 16 of them.
Le Toux, though, brings his experience to aid in Doyle’s attacking efforts. Le Toux has spent eight years in Major League Soccer with four different clubs, including Colorado’s opponent this weekend, Vancouver. He has 56 goals and 55 assists in 236 appearances and holds the Philadelphia Union all-time record for most goals scored (50).
The Frenchman’s professional career began with French club Lorient in 2004, before making the switch to Seattle when they were still in the USL. Le Toux’s MLS career began when the Sounders joined the league in 2009.
