The Colorado Rapids have waived midfielder Emmanuel Appiah and goalkeeper Chris Froschauer, just four days prior to the club’s match against the Portland Timbers at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The Rapids drafted Appiah 15th overall in the 2016 SuperDraft out of Cincinnati, where he spent five years in the Bearcats’ midfield. Appiah was sent to the USL’s Charlotte Independence on March 18, and appeared in two games beforing making the jump to Commerce City during the Copa America Centenario break.
Froschauer was drafted 43rd overall by Colorado in 2016, but the former Ohio State Buckeye did not see time with the Rapids this season.
Because they are placed on waivers, both Appiah and Froschauer are eligible to join any league side. The Waiver Claiming Period for the duo begins Friday, July 1 and concludes Monday, July 4 at 5. If they are not picked up by then, they will then be available to all MLS clubs on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Colorado will host Portland on July 4 in goalkeeper Tim Howard’s first game as a Rapid.
