Brandon Marshall has been limited during the first few days of OTAs, and thanks to 9News’ Mike Klis, we now know why.

According to Jeff Legwold, Marshall had the surgery back in the beginning of the offseason, but like Mark Sanchez, he’s not expected to be sidelined long.

The question, though, is what this means for Marshall’s contract negotiations going forward. Since he hasn’t yet signed his second-round tender, he’s technically not under contract, which brings into question what would happen if he had been more-severely injured.

According to Troy Renck of the Denver Post, Marshall is expected to have signed a waiver that would protect him financially against injury, but to what degree we don’t know.

But if Legwold is right and the surgery occurred months ago, then maybe this won’t have any affect at all; he would have already had the injury when he signed the waiver to practice.

The deadline to sign the offer sheet is April 22, and while Marshall undoubtedly wants a long-term deal, he’s shown no indication that he plans on doing anything but playing for the Denver Broncos this season.
