It’s been exactly a month since Walt Weiss stepped down as manager of the Colorado Rockies, but with the baseball season officially ending last night with the Chicago Cubs’ World Series championship, a decision on his replacement could be coming soon.

Half a dozen names have been thrown out for the vacant managerial position, including long-term Rockies assistant coach and Triple-A manager Glenallen Hill. Outside options include Ron Roenicke, Bud Black and Bo Porter, amongst others.
The Rockies organization is close to taking the next step. They have the offense and the starting rotation has more promise than we’ve seen in years, maybe in franchise history. The issue is the bullpen, and it’s a big issue.
Whoever takes over as the Rockies manager will be tasked with making something out of nothing in the final innings, something Weiss wasn’t able to do.
