Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog has been named to Team Sweden’s 2022 Olympic roster.
Landeskog will join Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman and New York Rangers forward Mika Zibanejad on Team Sweden.

The Swedish Olympic Committee, along with all other nations, will reveal a long list of the remaining players that are in contention to make the team on Oct. 15. Any player not on this list cannot be named to the team when the final roster is announced in January.
Landeskog has a long history of dressing for Team Sweden in international play. The 28-year-old first appeared for the U-18 World Juniors in 2009, where he had four goals in six games before playing in the 2011 World Junior Championship.
At the senior level, Landeskog was an alternate captain for Sweden at the 2014 Olympics in Sweden’s loss to Team Canada in the gold medal game. He also dressed for the Swedes in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, where he added a bronze medal to his trophy case.
Landeskog has also dressed for Sweden in the World Championships in 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2019. He has nine goals and 23 points in 43 senior games with his home country.
Team Canada is the only country to officially announce its first three players. Two-time gold medalist Sidney Crosby, 2014 gold medalist Alex Pietrangelo and two-time NHL Hart Trophy winner Connor McDavid will dress for the Canadians in February.
