After 14 weeks waiting in the wings, Montee Ball is finally getting a second shot.

For a second round selection who actually showed some promise during his rookie year, Ball’s career in Denver was surprisingly short, ending with him being cut before the start of his third season.
As a rookie, Ball averaged 4.7 yards on a Broncos offense that would lead the team to the Super Bowl. That next offseason, Ball was hyped up by the Broncos and fantasy football gurus everywhere as the next great Broncos running back, but that sentiment was quickly proved wrong as Ball averaged 3.1 yards a carry and lost his job after three starts.
In the last few months, Ball has been rumored to have had interest from several other contending teams, but it wasn’t until mid December that one finally picked him up, even if it is just as a practice squad member.
As a Broncos fan, though, I would be a little worried that it was the Patriots that ended up picking Ball off the scrap heap; if anybody is going to end up getting the best out of him and using him against us in the playoffs, it’s Bill Belichick.
Nonetheless, Ball was a great member of the Denver community, and Broncos Country should hope he makes the best out of this opportunity, as long as it’s not against the Broncos.
