According to the New York Times, while Trump’s buddy Tom Brady won’t be speaking at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland next week, Tim Tebow will.
The still-beloved former Broncos quarterback will join the likes of UFC president Dana White, golfer Natalie Gulbis and Rudy Giuliani.
Trump had said on several occasions that he planned to ask Brady to speak at the convention, but either he forgot or Brady decided to pass — he’s probably too busy trying to take his DeflateGate appeal up to the Supreme Court.
For Tebow, though, this could be the start of a new life. Given that the former Heisman-winning quarterback has been flushed out of the NFL, he has been hinting at a future in politics for awhile now. Members of the Republican elite even looked to be pushing him towards a congressional run at one point.
A rousing speech on a stage like the Republican National Convention, especially this Republican National Convention, could put Tebow on the political map quicker than most could have imagined.
But if you’re thinking about a possible Vice Presidential nod, think again. At just 28 years old, Tebow has another seven years to go until he’ll legally be allowed on the ticket.
