A verdict on Colorado Rockies shortstop Jose Reyes’ punishment for a domestic violence incident could be handed down as soon as today, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.
Jon Heyman of MLB Network reported last week that the suspension would likely be 60 games, and Rosenthal seconds that saying:
“The expectation is that Reyes will be suspended for at least 60 games, as previously reported by MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.”
Reyes has already missed 34 games this season on paid administrative leave, earning upwards of $4 million dollars in that span.
Rosenthal reports that the hold up in a decision being made is due to the difficulty of obtaining the necessary information, not a dispute between the commissioner and players union.
Rosenthal also reports that Jose’s situation is considered more serious than that of Arolids Chapman, who got suspended for 30-games for his own domestic dispute in the offseason.
With the emergence of Trevor Story, though, the likelihood of Reyes playing many more games in a Rockies uniform seem slim to none.
