The Colorado Rockies have reportedly agreed to a trade with the Toronto Blue Jays to acquire Seunghwan Oh, a right-handed specialist for their bullpen.
Oh is coming off a stellar first half of the season for the woeful Blue Jays. He’s pitched in 47.0 innings in 2018, striking out 55 batters — while only walking 10. His 2.68 ERA would rank second on the Rockies roster only behind Adam Ottavino.

Toronto Sun columnist Steve Simmons joined Eric Goodman and Aniello Piro on Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7 to discuss the Rockies acquisition of Oh.
“He has in a really, really awful Blue Jays season. He has been a surprisingly bright light,” Simmons said. “He’s got superb numbers…one of the things about him is that he’s terrific against right-handed hitting.”
Oh is from South Korea, 36-years old and indeed lethal against right-handed batters. Right-handed batters are hitting .168 against Oh in 2018. He’s in his third-year pitching in the major leagues and Simmons says Oh can contribute greatly in later innings.
“If you wanna use him specifically in seventh, eighth inning to get right-handers out. He’s a pro,” Simmons said. “If you’re in a playoff series…You need those kinds of guys. He’s been extremely solid for a team frankly, who can’t get anyone out.”
