Tyler Anderson did his best, but the Rockies couldn’t hit the ball as they fell 2-0 to the San Francisco Giants on Friday night.
Anderson went 6.0 innings, giving up 7 hits with 6 strikeouts and two earned runs, but it just wasn’t enough as his teammates could only manage two hits all night long in San Francisco.
In the second inning, Nick Hundley singled and so did Joe Panik before Tyler Anderson threw a wild pitch, allowing both batters to advance. And then, a third straight single, this time by Austin Slater, scored both Hundley and Panik for the 2-0 lead.
In the fifth, Anderson gave up a leadoff double but was able to worth through it, disallowing any more damage on the score board.
Following that, the Rockies had something cooking in the sixth inning when Charlie Blackmon led off with an infield single. But, after DJ LeMahieu’s strikeout, Nolan Arenado smoked a ball into left center which was perfectly chased down and caught by Gregor Blanco, ending Colorado’s hopes of scoring.
For San Francisco, Chris Stratton threw a complete game with only 2 hits allowed and 7 strikeouts. It was his first career complete game.
Colorado fell to 81-66, only 0.5 a game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
