Colorado Rockies first basemen Mark Reynolds has been the catalyst of the team’s offense through the first six weeks of the season.
In under 40 games, Reynolds has belted 12 home runs this season, just two shy of the 14 home runs he hit all of last season. Signed primarily as a backup to Ian Desmond, Reynolds has forced the hand of manager Bud Black due to his impressive play both at the plate and defensively so far this season.
During the sixth inning of the first ballgame between the Rockies and Cubs, Reynolds belted a solo home run. That home run was the fourth in as many games for Reynolds, which ties a personal best.
Mark Reynolds has now hit a home run in four consecutive games, tying his career-long homer streak (also: Aug. 6-9, 2009).

Reynolds has been the Rockies MVP so far this year. From filling in when Desmond broke his hand to carrying the offense in the early stages of the season, Mark Reynolds has been a force for the Rockies this season.
Reynolds is currently hitting .336 on the season with 12 home runs and 30 RBIs. Wouldn’t it be great if everybody on the team could be like Mark?
