Albuquerque Isotopes outfielder Mike Tauchman had quite the month of May. After leading the Pacific Coast League with 44 hits, 31 runs and 81 total bases, Tauchman was named the PCL Player of the Month by the league offices Tuesday.
The 27-year old outfield prospect hit .379, owned a slugging percentage of .698 and drove in 24 runs, while helping the Isotopes go 19-11.
Tauchman played a large role in Albuquerque’s success, recording 12 multi-hit games in the month of May. The Bradley University (Ill.) alum also recorded his first professional grand slam on May 6 in a 14-12 victory over El Paso and hit a go-ahead home run in the eighth inning to help the Isotopes defeat Fresno, 5-4 on May 31.
Tauchman was also honored by the PCL with the Player of the Week award for the period of May 14-20. During the six-game period, Tauchman 417 (10-for-24) while leading the circuit with eight runs scored, 27 total bases, five home runs and a 1.125 slugging percentage
A 10th round selection in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft, Tauchman is in his sixth season with the Rockies organization. Tauchman is hitting .385 (60-for-156) with nine home runs in 39 games since rejoining the Isotopes from Colorado on April 22.
Tauchman is the fourth Isotope to receive a PCL Player of the Month award, joining Sean Bergman (July 2003), Scott Seabol (May 2005) and Ryan McMahon (June 2017).
