The Colorado Rockies announced today that they have reinstated left-handed pitcher Mike Dunn (rhomboid strain) and right-handed pitcher Scott Oberg (back strain) from the 10-day disabled list, and have optioned right-handed pitchers Jeff Hoffman and Brooks Pounders to Triple-A Albuquerque.
Colorado welcomes Dunn and Oberg back, hoping to jump start a bullpen that has struggled throughout the year. Outside of Adam Ottavino, nobody in the bullpen holds an ERA under 4.23. Oberg will return with the second best ERA in the bullpen at 4.08.
• Dunn, 33, is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA (16.0 IP, 16 ER), 17 walks and 12 strikeouts over 23 games with Colorado this season … placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 8 with a rhomboid strain and began a Minor League rehab stint on June 23 … made two rehab appearances and combined for two hitless, scoreless innings with one walk and two strikeouts … across parts of 10 Major League seasons with New York-AL (2009), Atlanta (2010), Miami (2011-16) and Colorado (2017-18), the Farmington, N.M., native is gone 33-26 with four saves, a 3.86 ERA (417.1 IP, 179 ER), 217 walks and 458 strikeouts over 525 games.
• Oberg, 28, is 1-0 with a 4.08 ERA (17.2 IP, 8 ER), six walks and 13 strikeouts in 16 appearances across two stints with the Rockies this season … placed on the 10-day disabled list on June 10 with a back strain and began a Minor League rehab stint on June 23 … pitched two scoreless innings with two hits, one walk and three strikeouts across two rehab appearances … allowed five runs in 0.1 innings of work April 23vs. San Diego, but has allowed one run (no earned runs) across six subsequent Major League outings (6.2 IP) … the Tewksbury, Mass., native was originally selected by Colorado in the 15th round of the 2012 First-Year Player Draft and has gone 5-6 with two saves, a 4.94 ERA (160.1 IP, 88 ER), 72 walks and 132 strikeouts since his Major League debut on April 14, 2015 vs. San Francisco.
• Hoffman, 25, had no record and a 10.13 ERA (5.1 IP, 6 ER) across five appearances in his first Major League stint of 2018 after being recalled from Triple-A on June 9 … started the season on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation and made one rehab start with High-A Lancaster on April 10 … was reinstated and optioned to Triple-A on April 28 … the Latham, N.Y., native is 6-9 with a 5.82 ERA (136.0 IP, 88 ER), 63 walks and 107 strikeouts across parts of three seasons with Colorado. • Pounders, 27, was recalled April 24 for his first stint on the Rockies’ active roster … has made 14 appearances for the Rockies, a new single-season career high … is 0-1 with a 7.63 ERA (15.1 IP, 13 ER), two walks and 17 strikeouts with Colorado … the Riverside, Calif., native signed a Minor League contract with Colorado with an invite to Spring Training on Dec. 5, 2017 … in his Major League career, he is 3-2 with a 8.92 ERA (38.1 IP, 38 ER), 10 walks and 42 strikeouts across 38 relief appearances.
