According to William Boor of MLB.com, the Colorado Rockies are set to call up No. 20 prospect, Rico Garcia. He was originally scheduled to start Monday night for Triple-A Albuquerque but has been scratched for Nelson Gonzalez.

The move comes in the wake of the team’s announcement that German Marquez, Kyle Freeland and Jon Gray were all heading to the injured list for various ailments.
For the Isotopes, the prospect has registered a 7.16 earned run average in 12 starts. For Double-A Hartford, he had a 1.85 mark in 13 starts. Between the two, Garcia has struck out 132 hitters in 123.1 innings. He was originally promoted to Triple-A June 20th.
In his last start with the Isotopes, Garcia went five scoreless innings and struck out five. It was just the second start of his stint with the club in which he held the opposition without a run.
The Rockies have made a point to promote youngsters recently. Tim Melville, Wes Parsons, Phillip Diehl and Joe Harvey have all been brought up in the last two weeks.
On the year, Rockies’ starters have the league’s worst ERA (5.75). The staff that began the year have all been sent to the injured list, with Gray, Chad Bettis and Tyler Anderson out for the year.
Garcia will likely make his debut against the Boston Red Sox – the defending World Series champions – at Coors Field. On the year, the visitors have scored the third-most runs in the majors (757). Only the Yankees (772) and Twins (761) have higher run totals.
He will be the third starter for the club to make their major-league debut this year.
