Diehl, 24, had a 4.50 ERA over nine appearances with the Yankees during Spring Training. In 2018, Diehl started the year with New York’s Class A affiliate before being called up to AA-Trenton. At the Double-A level, Diehl, had a 1.35 ERA over 26.2 innings pitched.
Tauchman had a .196 batting average in 55 plate appearances this spring. In 52 total games in the big leagues between 2017-18, Tauchman had nine hits in 59 at-bats, but failed to make much of an impact.
With Tauchman out of the picture, the Rockies will likely keep veteran utility man Mark Reynolds on the roster.
