Give veteran tackle Ryan Harris one thing, he’s not letting the stress of moving from right tackle to left tackle show outwardly.
Following a move to the other side of the line – a move prompted because of a shoulder injury to Ty Sambrailo – Harris spoke with the media following Friday’s practice and, despite the stresses he’s under, made some comments that should put Broncos fans at ease.
Harris is an intense guy, so his tone can often be perceived as stony. But make no mistake, he’s a funny guy. And despite the seriousness of what he faces on Sunday, he appears to be taking things in stride.
When asked about the disruption the o-line faced this week, Harris told reporters, “I’d love to meet the guy who copyrighted continuity for an offensive line because ever since I’ve been an offensive lineman, things happen in the season. Every play we have new personnel.”
Harris isn’t alone in having the ‘straight-man’ personality. It’s a trait his quarterback, Peyton Manning, has perfected. Harris, it appears, has Manning’s back in more way than one.
When asked about the added pressure of protecting Manning’s blind side he had this to say:
“Why would there be? He’s only like a future Hall of Famer, right? I mean I think all of us on the offensive line have handled that ‘pressure’ pretty well.”
Make no bones about it, Harris means business. But it’s good to see he’s able to roll with the changes and take them lightly.
