The Colorado Rapids will be without midfielder Dillon Serna for the rest of the season, as the 22 year old will undergo surgery to repair a torn right ACL and lateral meniscus suffered Wednesday in the U.S. Open Cup against FC Dallas.
“We are extremely disappointed for Dillon that this injury has come at a time when he and the club are doing so well,” said Paul Bravo, Technical Director and VP of Soccer Operations. “Now, it is important for us to fully support him throughout the process of getting back on the field. Everyone at the club wishes Dillon a speedy recovery.”
Serna has appeared in 11 games for head coach Pablo Mastroeni this year, mainly at attacking right midfield. He’s started five matches and has scored two goals, the last one coming in the 78th minute of a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on May 11.
Now in his fourth year with the club, he has appeared in 52 total games for the Rapids with seven goals. Colorado signed the Brighton, CO native as a homegrown player on January 14, 2013.
