The Colorado Avalanche return home to take on the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday night in the first game of a two-game series.
Let’s take a look at this a Western Division clash from a betting perspective in our Sharks vs. Avalanche betting preview with odds, picks and predictions.
Sharks vs. Avalanche Betting Preview
The San Jose Sharks continue what is technically a 12-game road trip, with their previous six contests being true road games, and after this pair of clashes in Colorado, they will play at Gila River Arena, home of the Arizona Coyotes in Glendale, AZ. They remain temporarily displaced due to the ban of sporting events in the Bay Area as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Sharks have faired well thus far, going 3-3 on the season with a pair of shootout wins in that stretch. Colorado returns home after going 2-2 on a four-game California road trip against the L.A. Kings and Anaheim Ducks. Forward Nathan MacKinnon leads the Avalanche in scoring with two goals and six assists, while linemates Mikko Rantanen and Gabriel Landeskog combine for eight goals and four assists early in the season.
Colorado winger Andre Burakovsky is questionable after missing the last three games with an upper body injury.

Bets We Like With a Sharks Win
Logan Couture to Score a Goal Anytime (+250, DraftKings)
The 31-year old Sharks Captain has two goals and two assists in six games this season. He will need to continue producing offensively in order for San Jose to win this contest. Couture has nine goals and 17 assists in 31 career games versus Colorado.

Bets We Like With an Avalanche Win
Avalanche First Period Puck-Line (-0.5 Goals +120, BetMGM)
Sunday’s loss to Anaheim was the first time in three games that the Avs failed to cover the puck-line in the opening 20 minutes of play. Colorado should be able to score early against this Sharks club that is ranked seventh in the league in high-danger scoring chances allowed, with 52 total.
Bets We Like Independent of the Outcome
Goal Scored in the First 10 Minutes (YES -157, DraftKings)
The Avalanche have played in six games this season, with four of those contests having a goal scored within the first 10 minutes of play. Looking to bounce back after a tough loss against a slow Anaheim club, I like the Avalanche to get off to a faster pace in this game, and we should see goals early in this contest.
Sharks vs. Avalanche Pick
Colorado is a far superior team compared to San Jose, with more scoring depth and better goaltending, and following a somewhat underwhelming California road trip, I like the Avalanche to get back on track and pick up a 4-1 win at home this evening.
