While most of the national sports media still wants to see Denver invest in a veteran quarterback, buzz is finally starting to build around Drew Lock since the draft.

“The guy I want to see in his second season, I think, is Denver Broncos’ quarterback Drew Lock,” said Solomon Wilcots on Pro Football Focus’ 2 Minute Drill.

“Last year, he really didn’t have anyone to go to outside of Courtland Sutton, who got double-covered a lot,” Wilcots said. “The one thing that Drew Lock does very well, is drive the ball down the field with great accuracy. He’s really good with the long ball so they go out, they get him what? Jerry Jeudy, K.J. Hamler, Noah Fant at the tight end position, of course, coming back from last year.”

Jeudy and Hamler are sure to boost Denver’s aerial attack, but those weren’t the only tools John Elway added to Lock’s arsenal this offseason. He also signed running back Melvin Gordon to a two-year, $16 million deal and drafted tight end Albert Okwuegbunam, who was a mismatch nightmare for Missouri, in the fourth round.

“I think the weapons are now around Drew Lock where this guy could be very exciting to watch,” Wilcots said. “If he shows up, that team could really be a team to watch in 2020.”

When Lock showed up at the end of 2019, it made the Broncos a team to watch for a five-week stretch. The team went 4-1, passed for more yards per game and scored more points per game with him under center.
