Heading into the Colorado high school football season, Mile High Sports went straight to the source in search of a preseason “Who’s Who” watch list – i.e. the players you’ll be hearing about for the next three months. Former Niwot standout, Buff and Bronco Matt McChesney – the founder of Six Zero Strength and Fitness – once again provides great high school football insight. Without further ado, here’s the Colorado Top 60, compiled by McChesney and presented by Six Zero Strength and Fitness.
We’re counting down the list from 60 to number one. Here are the 2016 All-Colorado Top 60 numbers 10-1.

No. 10: Dalton Keene Chatfield (OLB)
With a total of 918 rushing years, averaging 54 yards game, many universities desired Keene. He decided to take his talents out east to Virginia Teach. Keene also logs time at tight end, making him one of the state’s top dual threats, per McChesney

No. 9: Adrian Jackson Mullen (Athlete)
Varsity player since he was a freshman, Jackson has started to peak everyone’s interest. Since he is only a junior at Mullen High School, Jackson still has time to pick a university but has talked to a couple of Big 10 schools as well as CU. Simply put, McChesney calls him “Mr. Do It All.”

No. 8: Alec Hamilton Regis Jesuit (MLB)
Though Hamilton’s playing time has been on the limited side he has made every second count averaging 8.5 tackles a game. Though he has shown interest in the Air Force Academy, Hamilton has yet to commit. McChesney describes him as a “rocket to the football.”

No. 7: Noah Elliss Valor Christian (DT)
Despite his high demand and even higher ranking, Elliss has yet to commit to any university. He has received offers from several top tier college football programs including the number one-ranked team in the country, the University of Alabama. McChesney names Elliss his top interior lineman in the state.

No. 6: Heston Paige Thunder Ridge (OL)
Paige has decided to keep his talents local and stay within Colorado for his college career where he will be a CU Buff. McChesney describes the Thunder Ridge standout as a “trench hog.”

No. 5: Corte Tapia Windsor (OLB)
With 173 solo tackles and 332 total tackles, it is no surprise that Tapia has been on varsity since he was a freshman. Tapia will continue to play football within his home state for the CSU Rams next fall. Colorado’s all-time sack leader needs few other superlatives from McChesney.

No. 4: Christian Cumber Mullen (CB)
Another varsity athlete since his early days of high school, Cumber averages a little over six tackles a game. Cumber is still unsure where he will be next year but has received many offers including several Big 10 schools as well as CU and CSU. For good reason, McChesney tabs Cumber as the state’s top cornerback.

No. 3: John Van Diest Cherry Creek (DE)
The battle for Van Diest commitment was spread out throughout the Pac 12 football teams. Yet despite offers from colleges such as Stanford and UCLA, Van Diest will be staying in Colorado to be a CU Buff. McChesney simply calls Van Diest a “gamechanger.”

No. 2: Dylan McCaffrey Valor Christian (QB)
From day one McCaffrey has been unstoppable, showing off his skills with over 5,400 total passing yards, almost 400 pass completions, and 50 passing touchdowns. Being one of the best players in CO as well as the country, McCaffrey will be heading off to the University of Michigan next year. Unquestionably, McCaffrey is the state’s top quarterback.

No. 1: Jake Moretti Pomona (OL)
The heart and soul of the Pomona offensive line, Moretti will take his talents to the Big 10 year to play at Ohio State University. He earns McChesney’s nod for the top offensive lineman and top overall player in the state.
