Heading into the Colorado high school football season, Mile High Sports went straight to the source in search of a preseason “Who’s Who” watch list – i.e. the players you’ll be hearing about for the next three months. Former Niwot standout, Buff and Bronco Matt McChesney – the founder of Six Zero Strength and Fitness – once again provides great high school football insight. Without further ado, here’s the Colorado Top 60, compiled by McChesney and presented by Six Zero Strength and Fitness.

We’re counting down the list from 60 to number one. Here are the 2016 All-Colorado Top 60 numbers 30-21.

No. 30: Barrett Miller Eaglecrest (OL)

It is hard to believe Miller is an underclassman considering he is over 6 feet tall and over 300 pounds. Given his youth, Miller will be a name on everyone lips the next couple years. “Bear,” as McChesney calls him, also boasts a 4.6 GPA.

No. 29: Brandon Micale Pomona (LB)

In addition to his top state in-state ranking, Micael was also chosen to play in the Blue-Gray All-American Bowl this year. He boasts 4.6 GPA, but McChesney calls him a “bad man” at linebacker for Pomona.

No. 28: Tristan Brown Delta (DL)

Brown has been playing varsity since he was a freshman, yet the most impressive thing about him is his improvement within two years. Though he is still uncommitted, the level of improvement between his years of playing is definitely eye catching. Delta is a small school, but McChesney says Brown is a big playmaker.

No. 27: Trey McBride Fort Morgan (DL)

McBride is just starting the long haul of the college process, as he is only a junior. Yet, due to his impressive 14 touchdowns within his first season of being a varsity player, McBride is already receiving attention. McChesney calls him a “tornado” on the field.

No. 26: Jacob Stanton Chaparral (MLB)

Stanton may only have 20 varsity football games under his belt, but he is still drawing a lot of attention. As a junior, Stanton does not where he’ll attend college yet, but with his total of over 130 tackles, he’ll most likely have his pick of schools. McChesney predicts another big year compiling stats.

No. 25: Austin Johnson Highlands Ranch (OL)

Even with still two years left of high school, Johnson has already chatted with three different colleges and has even received an offer from one. Since he is still a junior in high school, Johnson has yet to make any commitment decisions. McChesney calls “Big Salsa” a “nasty, tough, S.O.B.”

No. 24: Esaias Gandy Denver South (OLB)

With over 150 tackles in his high school career, it is easy to see why Gandy has sparked interest from several Pac 12 schools. Though still undecided, Gandy has a wide array of schools, including CU and CSU, to look into.

No. 23: Brock Domann Pine Creek (QB)

Several colleges have shown interest in Domann though he remains undecided. It is clear from his over 2,000 total passing yards and 115 completions that Domann will be an asset wherever he goes. McChesney calls him a gunslinger and his stats back it up.

No. 22: Cam Gonzales Pomona (Athlete)

Along with his football stats, Gonzales’ high GPA has caught the attention of several universities while he remains undecided. Yale and Harvard have begun to give Gonzales some notice, along with other universities like the University of San Diego and Northern Colorado. McChesney calls him an “unreal athlete and leader of leaders.”

No. 21: Chad Muma Legend (S/WR)

Muma may have just received upperclassman status in high school but he already has four colleges interested and even an offer. As a junior, Muma still has time to make add to his already impressive stats of 81 tackles, 79 of which were solo. McChesney praises his leadership skills.
