With four preseason games in the books, the Denver Nuggets are almost done with the games that don’t count in the standings.

During the past two weeks, the Nuggets have experimented with different combinations of players, roles, and styles to get a better handle on the roster and rotation. Head coach David Adelman expressed his interest in trying new things, helping players build chemistry with different units, and trying to identify what works best for the Nuggets in a very important year.

On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn goes over some of the lineup combinations the Denver Nuggets and head coach David Adelman have tried so far, emphasizing what he likes, what he doesn’t, and what he still wants to see heading into the 2025-26 season.

Will the Nuggets play an all-bench lineup frequently? Is Jamal Murray still the right starter to stagger with the second unit? How often will the Nuggets deploy Nikola Jokic and Jonas Valanciunas together? Ryan answers all of these questions and more.

Pickaxe and Roll is the flagship Denver Nuggets show on Mile High Sports, posting every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday (unless otherwise specified). Ryan Blackburn breaks down the Nuggets in detail, bringing news, analytics, rotations, and more into a show for hardcore Nuggets fans.
