With Labor Day weekend just over a month away, it’s time to start planning that final big send-off to summer. This year, instead of spending hours in bumper-to-bumper traffic along I-70, Coloradans will have the opportunity to drive with no speed limit.
No, the Colorado State Patrol isn’t taking the weekend off. They’ll still be patrolling the highways and byways waiting to pop anyone who can’t drive 55.
This year, motorsports enthusiasts – just anyone who’s sick and tired of going the “posted” speed limit – can head out to Watkins, Colo. for the inaugural Colorado Mile where for three days there will be no speed limit.
It’s Colorado’s first full mile top speed contest.
Registration is now open (but space is limited) and includes unlimited runs on what will surely be the fastest stretch of road in Colorado over Labor Day weekend.
