Fans are getting excited about the Colorado Rapids’ undefeated record of 6-0-0 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. This is a huge change for the Rapids from last year, as they only won five home games all season, out of 17.
President of the Colorado Rapids Tim Hinchey joined Gil Whiteley on Monday to discuss how the Rapids have made their home field such a scary place for opposing teams to play.
“There’s no question that last year — and really, the last 18 months prior to this season — we weren’t good enough,” Hinchey said. “We’ve had the opportunity to invest and bring in more quality, and you can tell by the guys we have brought in, Kevin [Doyle] and Jermaine [Jones], it’s a host of fantastically talented players.”
Doyle has been a huge addition for the Rapids, and as Hinchey describes, “He is unselfish and wants his teammates to do well, and those are the kind of players we needed here with the Rapids.”
The Rapids seem to have finally found the right formula, and it’s paying off in victories.
Hinchey said the No. 1 thing they have been priortizing is their home field, and they have been making sure their efforts go to that home field advantage. This is the very reason why Dicks Sporting Goods has become their “fortress.”
“They had set a goal, Paul Bravo, Pablo and the group in terms of making Dicks Sporting Goods a proper fortress, and prioritizing our efforts at home.” Hinchey said. “And obviously, with an undefeated record thus far, it’s fantastic to see those results.”
