Quarterbacks aren’t normally the trash-talking type; they’re cerebral, professional, mature and above those sort of things.
For the most part, quarterbacks have an image to uphold, and that involves leading an offense by example; that includes keeping their emotions in check.
Well, that is most definitely not the type of quarterback Philip Rivers is. Rivers, actually, may be the biggest trash talker in the game, and he doesn’t care what you think.
Now, if he’s backing it up, which he does most of the time, it’s fine. But when you’re playing an angry and inspired Broncos defense, you might not want to motivate them further.
After Rivers got in Von Miller‘s face during the Chargers’ final drive, Von made sure to let him know that, too.
Von Miller has heard enough. No flag btw https://t.co/wrFtdeUvWT

When asked why Rivers was so angry, Von filled us in.

Yeah, well whatever cologne Von was wearing, I can promise you that Rivers was smelling a lot of it; Von had two sacks on the day and several more quarterback hits.
But Von wasn’t the only one getting into it with Rivers; the rest of the defense did everything they could to shut him up, too.
All that trash talk between Rivers and Broncos defense was just some good old fashioned fun. Derek Wolfe and Malik Johnson had much fun.

Wolfe says he has all the respect in the world for Rivers. But his constant yapping made the Broncos come at him even harder.

I just hope Rivers can clean up his act before the Chargers come to Denver in Week 17. I wouldn’t want him to go and get himself injured.
