After getting punched in the mouth early, the Denver Broncos never seemed to recover in their 24-16 loss to the Oakland Raiders on Monday night.
Rusty out of the gate, the Broncos offense was out of sync and the defense for all the hype, couldn’t stop rookie running back Josh Jacobs and quarterback Derek Carr.
Carr threw for 259 yards without turning the ball over, completing 22/26 and never hitting the ground once. His jersey was clean and Denver never generated a pass rush.
In the latest Broncos Blitz podcast, host Ronnie Kohrt discusses the good, the bad, and the ugly from the loss.
Despite the disappointing loss, there was a positive coming from the game Kohrt says, and that is quarterback Joe Flacco.
Even in the face of pressure from a poor offensive line and no running attack until the second half, Flacco engineered a solid couple drives plagued by poor play-calling. Flacco finished 21/31 for 268 yards and a touchdown. Flacco also found DaeSean Hamilton in the end zone on a perfect laser that was simply dropped.
Denver’s rebound from the loss must be quick though as a short week against the Chicago Bears await them.
