Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon is expanding his portfolio beyond the hardwood. So far in 2025, the Mile High Sports cover athlete released his first R&B single and also became the newest brand ambassador for premium underwear brand SAXX.

In the first half of the season, Gordon was sidelined for 23 of Denver’s first 56 games due to a calf injury. However, Gordon found a creative silver lining during this time. The NBA champion used his downtime to write and record “Too Close,” an R&B track that was released on major streaming services on Valentine’s Day.

“It was mastered a couple of days before Valentine’s Day. I had some time off with my calf, so I thought it was entertaining. I had fun,” Gordon said via The Denver Gazette. “It’s just a way to get things off my chest.”

The 29-year-old forward spent about four weeks writing the three-minute song. When it came to Gordon practicing his vocals, it would happen in some rather informal settings.

“Singing in the car, singing in the shower,” said Gordon. “It ended up coming together.”

Aaron Gordon steps into the world of underwear modeling

Off the court, Gordon has joined SAXX underwear as their newest brand ambassador. He joins Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby and Heisman Trophy runner-up Ashton Jeanty. According to Gordon, the partnership was a natural fit.

“Recently, there were a couple of brands that had reached out to me to do something along the lines of this, but SAXX just made the most sense, and I was most aligned with the brand,” Gordon said via The Denver Post. “I think the performance, the style and the comfort, it was perfect for me.”

Gordon will release limited-edition underwear prints and products with SAXX. More importantly for Gordon, SAXX has committed to making annual donations to the Gordon Family Foundation, which provides STEM education to underrepresented youth and community services in underserved areas.

“I’m a big believer in the mark of a good company and a good person is the impact that they have,” said Gordon. “Their donation helps us to continue to support underprivileged and lower socio-economic families. It has been a wonderful addition to this partnership.”

Despite various off-the-court endeavors, Gordon is making sure not to lose focus on the court. As the Nuggets hold the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, he remains focused on team success, and making a big final push for the playoffs.

“My calf feels great. I am ready to go, ready to make a push.”
