This year’s NBA draft has already been called a “bad draft” compared to last year’s superstar class, but that’s not stoping general manager Tim Connelly from being optimistic, no matter where they land.
Connelly joined Chris Mannix on the Vertical Podcast to talk about his goals for this upcoming draft, but in the end, it all comes down to getting a little lucky.
“It would be fun if a little luck came our way in the lottery. We like to be opportunistic when something presents itself. The odds are in our favor.” Connelly said. “I think this year will be a bit more challenging because the separation is not as intense, but again, when people say that it is a bad draft … every drafts good, you just gotta find the right guy.”
Connelly still isn’t sure which way the Nuggets are going with their picks, but he knows that when the time comes, they’ll be decisive. .
“We tend to be agressive.” Connelly said. “We wouldn’t be hesitant to take three first round guys, if it is guys that would help us.”
Although the 2016 NBA draft class may not be one of the better ones we’ve seen in recent years, Connelly trusts that he and his staff have put in the work to find a diamond in the rough. And really, based off of his draft history, Nuggets Nation should probably trust him.
