Crashes were the big story at the Coke Zero 400 in Daytona this weekend. The race ended with a spectacular wreck that sent Austin Dillion’s car airborne into the safety fence.
Furniture Row’s Martin Truex Jr. got caught up in another melee that left him unable to finish the race.
“It looked like the 5 (Kahne) and the 20 (Kenseth) got together somehow,” said Truex Jr. following the race. “Just another situation where we were kind of running outside there minding our own business and just like in practice just got caught up in somebody else’s wreck. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the way this place is.”
Truex Jr. was forced to settle for 38th place in the race. He did record six points for his efforts, but dropped from second to sixth place in the Sprint Cup standings.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the race moving him all the way up to third in the standings.
