Predicting how the upcoming Denver Broncos schedule will play out is anyone’s guess. It is pretty much impossible to just put a win or a loss next to each upcoming game and be correct. You can have a sense of how a game is going to go. However, no one can factor in injuries, suspensions or even slumps.
There are two games, though, that could come up and surprise the Denver Broncos. While there are six games or so that look like potential losses in 2017, or at least tight games, these two probably wouldn’t fall into that category, at least based on the other team’s performance from last season.
The first of the two games is Oct. 2 in Tampa Bay. The Bucs are the first team the Broncos play who has really struggled in recent years. Denver will be seriously tested in the first three games of the season with games at home against Carolina and Indianapolis before a road game in Cincinnati. How much will the Broncos be into that game if they get off to a 3-0 start? Or if Denver struggles in the first three weeks, will they have the bodies and energy to win this game after playing three potential playoff teams? The Broncos also have only four wins all-time in the state of Florida in the regular season.
The second game is Nov. 13 in New Orleans. Denver will be stacked once again on defense, but it just seems when the Saints have it going offensively, they can score on anybody. The Broncos will be coming off what should be a very emotional Sunday night game in Oakland and looking forward to a bye the following week. The game is an 11:00 start, which is not normally a big deal, but the Broncos will be coming off a stretch in which they play evening games in three out of the four previous weeks. New Orleans should not be a place where Denver falls short; it just seems like it could be a potential trap game.
The good news is there does not seem to be any other really bad trap games for the Broncos on their schedule. The only other potential scenario could be back-to-back road games in December against Jacksonville and Tennessee.
During every NFL season there are unexpected losses. Hopefully, we do not see that in 2016 with the Broncos.
