Things are getting ridiculous for Rockies rookie shortstop Trevor Story, who hit two more home runs on Friday in his debut at Coors Field – bringing his total to six on the year.
Entering the game, Story already was the first player in the modern era to hit a home run in each of his first three games as a rookie. He was tied with Robinson Cano for the league lead with four (Story homered twice in his first MLB game), then tacked on another two in a 13-6 Rockies loss.
Even on what has become “Denver Drinking Day” more than “Opening Day,” people were taking notice.
I'm at the bar but I'm still obligated to post Trevor Story's 6th home run of the season. #TrevorStory #MLB #Rockies pic.twitter.com/Q9jy1FxZon

Story’s start is so ridiculous, if he kept up this pace throughout the season he’d hit 243 home runs.
Obviously, that’s not going to happen. At that rate he’d at least start getting intentionally walked every at-bat. But still, it’s crazy to think that less than a week ago he’d never played a Major League Baseball game.
Here’s the first longball from Friday, in case you missed it. It broke a Rockies record for most consecutive game with a home run to start a season.
