The Colorado Rockies are still on the hunt for a manager and a few new names have been added to the mix.
Atlanta Braves special assistant Bo Porter is said to be in the running for the Rockies’ managerial void, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Porter managed the Houston Astros in 2013 and 2014, posting a record of 110-190.
The next candidate is former Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke. Roenicke has shown interest in the job, Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post reports.
Roenicke, 60, posted a winning record of 342-331 in his time as the Brewers skipper.
So, two fresh names have entered the running for the Rox managerial job. Now, where do the Rockies stand?
Well, they are still early in the process, as Roenicke and Porter join a list of hopeful candidates for the job. Notable names assumed to be in the running for the job are Bud Black, Glenallen Hill, Eddie Perez and Torey Lovullo, with Hill being the only confirmed candidate for the job.
The Rockies have kept the details to their managerial search under lock and key, with virtually no news stemming from the organization.
However, Thomas Harding reports that the Rockies are looking for a candidate who “will apply statistics and other research into managing and coaching, and who are adept at various methods for creating team chemistry.”
Unless the Rockies opt to hire somebody internally, expect a decision to come after a World Series champion is decided.
