Denver Nuggets first round pick Michael Porter Jr. surprised his mom with a new car on Monday and her reaction is heartwarming. Rewarding the people that helped you get to the next level is a right of passage for many professional athletes and the Porter family is known for being close.

Porter Jr. also posted a touching tribute to his mother on Instagram. In the post, he explains that it is a blessing for him to be able to provide her with the new car. He thanks her for the countless hours spent in basketball arenas and for supporting him throughout his career.

The Nuggets selected Porter Jr. with the No. 14 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft. The 6-foot-10 forward missed most of his freshman season with injuries, but is viewed as a top-3 talent when healthy.
