A couple of former Colorado Rockies will manage the two teams during the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game this summer.
Vinny Castilla will manage the National League squad while LaTroy Hawkins will take the reigns for the American League roster.
Via a press release:
Two-time All-Star and longtime Colorado Rockies third baseman Vinny Castilla and longtime Major League reliever LaTroy Hawkins will serve as managers during the 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 11th at Coors Field, as was announced earlier today on MLB Network. The 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which features the top Minor League prospects competing as part of All-Star Sunday, will mark the 22nd installment of the contest. The remainder of the coaching staffs, as well as rosters and umpires for the game, will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Futures Game will once again feature a National League vs. American League format, which was introduced in 2019 following 20 years of U.S. vs. World match-ups. The game, which is scheduled for seven innings, will begin at 3:00 p.m. (ET)/1:00 p.m. (MT) exclusively on MLB Network and simulcast on MLB.com, and will be followed by the All-Star Celebrity Softball Game at Coors Field. The 2019 Futures Game at Progressive Field in Cleveland finished in a 2-2 tie after eight innings following MVP Sam Huff’s game-tying two-run homer in the seventh inning, which forced the extra inning.
MLB All-Star Week includes the MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard at Coors Field (July 13th), Gatorade All-Star Workout Day featuring the T-Mobile Home Run Derby (July 12th), All-Star Sunday featuring the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game and All-Star Celebrity Softball Game (July 11th), the MLB Draft (July 11th-13th) and PLAY BALL PARK at the Colorado Convention Center (July 9th-13th), plus a lineup of additional events taking place around the city.
