The award is handed out to the player on each NFL team who best exemplifies leadership, both on and off the field and in the community.
Since coming to Denver six years ago, Green has played an integral role in the Broncos’ Be A Champion in the Community platform, working with groups such as the Mile High United Way and PLAY 60.

The NFL will select their national Walter Payton Man of the Year winner later this year. The winner will receive $500,000 in his name to fund the United Way’s premier digital education program, Character Playbook, and an additional $500,000 for a charity of their choice.
The two runner-ups will receive $250,000, with half going to Character Playbook and half going to the charity of their choice.
The only Bronco to take home the national award was John Elway, who did so in 1992.
