The NFL already knew just how devastating the Denver Broncos defense can be. After Sunday’s game in Cincinnati, teams now know the offense can be dangerous, too. That’s very encouraging for Von Miller and the rest of the Denver defense.

While the defense maintained its excellence with four sacks and one interception, again holding an opponent to 20 points or less, the Broncos offense exploded against the Bengals. Trevor Siemian showed what he can do when you let him throw downfield, throwing for 312 yards and four touchdowns en route to a 29-17 victory.

“It’s super encouraging, when Emmanuel [Sanders] goes off and does what he’s supposed to do. And DT [Demaryius Thomas] does what he is supposed to do,” Von Miller told Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Afternoon Drive on AM 1340 | FM 104.7. “Those are our receivers and when you feed them both and they both have great days, it’s definitely encouraging for a defense.”

After seeing what Siemian and the offense is capable of doing, Miller and the defense will use that encouraging momentum and move forward one week at a time. The Broncos don’t want to look too far into the future and get ahead of themselves.

“I don’t know, it’s just week three,” Miller said. “I think we would be creating destruction for ourselves if we start looking down the road to November and ‘We could win a Super Bowl if we do all this stuff.’ That’s not what worked for us last year. What worked for us was just taking it one day at a time, one game at a time. String along those games and make it to the playoffs.”

DeMarcus Ware had surgery on a broken forearm and will be out for four to five weeks. His replacement, Shane Ray, was virtually unstoppable in his first start. Ray had six total tackles with three of the team’s four sacks.

“I’m super proud,” Miller said of Ray’s performance. “He got a taste of it and hopefully that will just create a frenzy and it will [have a] snowball affect. The sky is the limit for him.”

Through the first three weeks the Broncos have faced an elite quarterback each week and emerged victorious. Miller says that’s because the defense knows who they are and what their game plan is every week. Nothing changes for them, which has a lot to do with their coordinator, Wade Phillips.

“Every quarterback is different but our fundamentals and our base is going to stay the same,” Miller said. “Coach Phillips gets us in great positions to make plays; he’s a wizard. He has been doing this for a long time and has us prepared to go against any quarterback.”

The quarterback they will face this week is second-year Buccaneer Jameis Winston. He has been letting it fly this season with 929 yards passing for eight touchdowns. He does make the occasional mistake, having thrown six interceptions so far this season, but Miller and the defense know Winston can be dangerous.

“Jameis [Winston] is a great quarterback. He has great pocket awareness,” Miller said. “It doesn’t matter if he is dropping back, he is still aware of where the rush is. When you watch him on film and you see they type of balls that he throws, it’s big time now. He’s made a couple of mistakes but he is a big time quarterback now and is definitely dangerous.”
