The 38th annual Mopar NHRA Mile-High Nationals are at Bandimere Speedway – AKA Thunder Mountain – this weekend just outside of Morrison and Lakewood, Colorado.
Bandimere is an important stop on the NHRA circuit as the high altitude can affect everything in a race from engine tuneups to car aerodynamics. Thunder Mountains also serves as the starting point to the three-week Western Swing of the race season.
Though the races are just getting started, Motorsports Insider and host of Race Central on the ‘Blow Torch for Motorsports’ Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7, Kurt Hansen was on site at the Mopar Big Block party to kick off the race weekend.
With the block party in full swing, Hansen documented the action via Facebook live to show the fans what they’re missing if they don’t get out to Thunder Mountain.
That action gets rolling on Friday afternoon, starting with Pro Stock and Nitro qualifying sessions. Qualifiers continue through Saturday with Jet Dragster races in the evening. The weekend will culminate on Sunday with three rounds of elimination races all leading up to the finals in the afternoon.
Head to Bandimere Speedway to check out all of the action over the weekend, and listen to Race Central every Friday from 6-8 p on Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7.
