Colorado Rapids midfielder Jermaine Jones continues to make his presence felt in the Copa America Centenario. On Thursday night he sent a perfect feed to Clint Dempsey who headed home the first goal of the U.S. National Team’s quarterfinal matchup with Ecuador.

The strike came in minute 21 and gave the U.S. an important first strike. The U.S. defeated Ecuador 1-0 in a tune-up for Copa America back on May 25.
Jones entered the match with a yellow card in tow, at risk of being sent off for another booking. As the midfield enforcer for the U.S., Jones had to exert his will in a slightly different way.
Jones now has a goal and an assist in the tournament.
