Jerry Jeudy is different.
He won’t be the only great receiver to come out of 2020’s spectacular wide receiver draft class, but he has a chance to be the most iconic.
Sometimes there is the occasional player who comes around and creates so much attention and “hype” for a combination of reasons; incredible production and on the field success, winning championships and awards, an all-time moment or unbelievable single catch or play. Or sometimes a guy just possesses a certain look or style that appeals and simply stands out.
Think Jadeveon Clowney or Odell Beckham. We will never forget the Clowney hit while at South Carolina where he burst through Michigan’s offensive line and blew up the Wolverine running back and popped his helmet off.
Or Beckham’s iconic one-handed catch that will go gown as one of the greatest catches ever. The rest of Beckham’s career? Not so much. It’s almost impossible for Beckham to live up to the hype that was created around him.
Does Jeudy fall into a similar “hype trap” as Beckham – a guy who some draftnicks compared Jeudy to? Hard to believe so.
Jeudy is the total package.
From the world-renowned footwork that dazzles accomplished NFL receivers, to the football-porn workout clips he posts on social media, Jeudy’s skillset is quite unique and he has a chance to be special.
Of course, Jeudy will need some help from whoever is going to be playing quarterback for the Denver Broncos that particular week. Hopefully for Jeudy’s and the Broncos’ sake Drew Lock is the truth.
However, despite playing with three different quarterbacks already this season Jeudy is the team’s leading receiver.
Still, everything’s set up with a perfect week for the rookie to break out. The resurgent Broncos, playing the in Atlanta against his football-big-brothers Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
How cool would it be for Jeudy to not only help win Sunday’s game against the Falcons but to be the best former Alabama receiver on the field that day?
Perhaps Jones, a surefire Hall-of-Fame player, will pass the torch as one of the NFL’s best receivers to Jeudy instead of Ridley on Sunday after a 100-yard, two touchdown day from Jeudy, who is ripe to break out.
