Nikola Jokic scored 21 points on 23 shots yesterday, a surprisingly low field goal percentage for one of the most efficient scorers in NBA history.
The Denver Nuggets lost to the Golden State Warriors in unfortunate fashion, and Jokic’s struggles from the field were a big reason why. The big man shot just 8-of-23 from the field and 2-of-13 from three-point range despite letting shots fly all night from the perimeter.
The Nuggets lost in heartbreaking fashion, but there’s still signs for optimism, including the absolute flamethrower of a night that Aaron Gordon had with a 50-point performance of his own.
On the latest episode of Pickaxe and Roll, Ryan Blackburn reacts to the Nuggets coming up short in OT against the Warriors despite a career night for Aaron Gordon. The shooting evolution that AG has gone through in Denver is truly remarkable, and he put on a performance for the ages to open the season. But Nikola Jokic had some struggles shooting the ball and never imposed his will on Golden State in the paint. Oh, and Steph Curry is still really good.
