Over the weekend, the Denver Broncos reportedly reached out to free agent running back Arian Foster. The real question is, why would the Broncos want him?
The Broncos have about $6 million in salary cap space, and that money will likely be spent on their last two unsigned draft picks, and, of course, Super Bowl MVP Von Miller. Not to mention that they will probably need to move even more money around in order to strike a deal with Miller.
Foster has been injury prone, too, missing 23 games in the last three seasons.
Danny and Cello of Mile High Sports Radio’s Morning Mayhem talked about another big issue with signing Foster.
“Literally, there’s no touches for him,” Cello said. “CJ Anderson is the third highest paid running back in the league. We drafted the third best running back in that draft class … they paid Ronnie Hillman a million dollars, and then we have Juwan Thompson and Kapri Bibbs. We’ve got five running backs.”
So why would the Broncos want Arian Foster? Apparently John Elway is running under the mantra of “You can never have enough running backs.”
